The series of images that I present here originates from a past work carried out together with Jonathan Hernández (Mexico City, 1972), in which we reflect on the behavior of various symbols of power such as the possession of animals and cars. luxury as ostentation tools, and therefore status symbols of its owner. Particularly,  although not exclusively, within the world of drug trafficking we see repeated the formula of demonstration of power appealing  to zoo control. Other symbols run parallel to it, such as the display of automotive caravans with a large displacement, and luxury bevels. Seen as clear examples of ostentation, they are in turn effective projections of "Desire". The question of this series of works revolves around trying to elucidate the components of this model of Desire, in which issues such as the excitement   for speed (announced by Marinetti *in his manifesto) are intermingled as “the beauty of speed”)  ó the adolescent honeys of their triumph, the exhibitionist pride of wealth, or ultimately, the ostentation of an inflated virility.

autofables

Based on the zoological and automobile collections, a series of fables is proposed in which animals, classified as exotic according to their place of origin, interact with artificial beasts or automobiles.

The serie  arises from Comparative Landscape Studies, and takes up the raids of theartificial naturalistthrough different territories, finding different exotic and local animals in its path. The fables arise from these encounters and are narrated by each spectator.
